    Surgery for Kopecky’s torn ACL

    Kopecky undergoes successfully surgery

    Wings’ forward has torn ACL repaired; out 4-6 months

    Tomas Kopecky DETROIT – Red Wings general manager Ken Holland today announced that forward Tomas Kopecky underwent successful surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee. Kopecky suffered the injury on April 3 against Columbus.

    The surgery was performed by Dr. William Clancy in Birmingham, Alabama with Red Wings team physician Dr. Douglas Plagens of the Detroit Medical Center in attendance. Kopecky’s recovery time is expected to be four to six months.

    Kopecky appeared in 77 of 82 games this season, scoring five goals and seven assists for 12 points while averaging 9:36 of ice time per game—all career highs.
