Boston, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has signed forwards Martin St. Pierre and Nate Thompson. Per club policy, the terms of the contracts will not be disclosed.

The Bruins acquired St. Pierre’s rights from Chicago via a July 24, 2008 trade, which saw Boston send Pascal Pelletier to the Blackhawks. St. Pierre, a 5-9, 185 pound center who played five NHL games last season, spent the majority of the 2007-2008 campaign playing for the Chicago’s AHL affiliate in Rockford where he earned a 21-67-88 line in 69 games. He also played in 12 Calder Cup playoff games and scored two goals and added 12 assists for 14 points. Signed as a free agent by Chicago on November 3, 2005, the 24-year-old has played in 211 AHL games with career 71-189-260 totals.

Thompson, a 6-0, 200 pound center, was the Bruins’ sixth round pick, 183rd overall, in the 2003 NHL entry draft and has spent the past three seasons with the Bruins’ AHL affiliate in Providence. In 2007-2008, the forward played in 75 regular season games for the P-Bruins and earned a 19-20-39 line - all career bests for the 23-year-old from Anchorage, Alaska. Thompson also appeared in 10 playoff games for Providence and produced 2-3-5 totals.

Over his three-year professional career, Thompson has appeared in 216 AHL contests, recording 35 goals and 45 assists for 80 points. In 2006-2007, he skated in four NHL games with the Bruins.

Prior to signing with Boston, both St. Pierre and Thompson were restricted free agents.
