Blackhawks new senior advisor for hockey operations

Bowman named Blackhawks new senior advisor for hockey operations

Those words uttered by Red Wings consultant Scotty Bowman. A 11 time Stanley Cup Champion, a member of the Red Wings for those memorable cup years, 97, 98, 2002 as the head coach and 2008 as a consultant.

Today the Chicago Blackhawks announced that he had agreed with terms with legendary coach Scotty Bowman and is looking forward to working with his Assistant General Manager, Hockey Operations son, Stan Bowman.

During a 2:00 P.M Chicago time press conference, Scotty Bowman stated that he was excited that he and his son would be working together. “My dad and his friends always talked about hockey and I loved listening to the stories” said Stan Bowman. “I have talked with my dad for years, but never talked about the day to day operations of the Blackhawks”

“Scotty Bowman, more than anyone in hockey today, embodies the traits we are integrating into this organization in order to bring a Stanley Cup to Chicago. He symbolizes excellence, performance, work ethic and delivering results. So do we,” said W. Rockwell “Rocky” Wirtz, Chairman.

“We are privileged to welcome the legendary Scotty Bowman to the Chicago Blackhawks family,” Blackhawks President John McDonough said. “His hockey genius, vision and energy are a perfect fit with our goal to win the Stanley Cup.”

“I have been a life-long fan of Scotty Bowman and I am truly humbled to have him join our Hockey Operations staff. He is one of the greatest minds in the history of our sport and will undoubtedly be a great asset to us in our day-to-day operations,” Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon said.

“The first one I talked to was Red Wings Senior Vice-President/Alternate Governor Jim Devellano, “he was the one who brought me to Detroit” “I then talked to the Red Wings owners Mike and Marian Ilitch, Ken Holland, Steve Yzerman, Jim Nill, they were all supportive and understanding” “The Red Wings have treated me very well and I left Detroit to come to work with my son” “There wasn’t a feeling of a backdoor deal”

All I can add is well done Chicago, you are making my predictions come true.
